The United States has no exclusivity when it comes to the availability of fast food restaurants that offer great tasting, high quality and affordable foodstuff. There are scores and scores of fast food restaurants all over the world that will give the United States fast food chains a run for their money.

In fact, a growing number of Americans are wishing that these fast food chains abroad establish their branches here in the United States. It seems that the quality, taste and customer service of these restaurant chains are something that they found lacking in fast food stores in the country.

1. Canada – Chez Ashton

This restaurant chain originated simply as a snack bar in 1969 but now has grown to become a chain of restaurants operating in 26 locations around Canada. They serve roast beef sandwiches, hot dogs and hamburgers. This restaurant is well known for offering hearty servings of French fries topped with brown gravy and fresh cheese curds to their patrons.

2. Israel – Burger Ranch

Burger Ranch started offering their tasty burgers in 1976 and now has grown into more than 100 restaurants in Israel. Interestingly, this chain of restaurants is not classified as kosher. Aside from hamburgers, they also serve chicken nuggets, and French fries. You will not find seafood and bacon on their menu though.

3. UK – Chicken Cottage

Chicken Cottage in the United Kingdom is well loved for their grilled chicken, barbecued chicken and chicken burgers. They also offer Mountain Burger, a sesame seed bun which contains breaded chicken fillet, together with hash brown, a slice of cheese and spiced with small amount of mayonnaise. This restaurant also offers Lamb Quarter Pounder – a variation of their chicken-centric menu.

4. Barbados – Chefette

Chefette is a fast food on the tropical island of Barbados. It has 14 locations in this place and an outpost in the Grantley Adams International Airport. Their brand name is the combination of the words ‘chef’ (to cook) and ‘fete’ (to party). It specializes in roti, which is made of curried vegetables and meat enclosed in wheat flour wrap. This restaurant also serves fried chicken, veggie burgers, salads, hamburgers and chicken sandwiches.

5. Germany – Weinerwald

Weinarwald specializes in roast chicken. When it started in 1955, it only served chicken noodle soup. Now, apart from roast chicken, they are now offering other sumptuous meals that really excite the palate of their customers. They now offer all kinds of chicken cuisines such as grilled, barbecued, red pepper, garlic and herb-chicken. 6. Russia – Teremok

Teremok is one of the largest fast food chains in Russia. It was established in 1998 and now has more than 200 restaurants across the country. They serve the typical Russian food fare such as minced meats, dumplings and borscht. Their most popular menu is the Blinis which are thin crepes served with either sweet or savory fillings.

7. Japan – MOS Burger

MOS Burger started its operation in Tokyo, Japan, in 1972. It was the first fast food chain that has established its locations in each of the 47 prefectures in the country. The interesting thing about this restaurant is that they don’t prepare their food offerings, until after they are ordered by their customers. Thus, the waiting time is a bit longer compared to other fast food chains. But their great tasting food stuffs are worth the wait. They offer teriyaki burger, Hokkaido pumpkin croquette, MOS rice burger, and teriyaki chicken burger.

8. France – Quick

This French restaurant is very similar to McDonald’s. They offer The Giant – the Big Mac French version. It is also comprised of two burgers, separated by a slice of cheese and also topped with onions, lettuce and sauce. They have also the equivalent of McDonald’s Happy Meals which they call Magic Boxes. These boxes can contain a hamburger, a cheeseburger, chicken nuggets, French fries, fish nuggets, rustic fries, cherry tomatoes, with beverage such as soft drink, or bottled water – depending on your choice.

9. Australia – Henny Penny

Henny Penny operates 13 sit-down and drive-thru locations in New South Wales, Australia. This chain of restaurants is famous for its fried and barbecued chicken. They serve their main dish with a variety of sides such as carrots, peas, coleslaw, and French fries. For weight watchers, they also serve chicken roll, which is shredded chicken in a long sesame roll.

10. India – Jumbo King

Jumbo King opened in 2001 and now has more than 30 outlets all over India. They initially started serving vada pav, a popular snack consisting of a spicy deep-fried potato patty sandwiched between a bread roll. To date, this restaurant has already served 100 million vada pav to their faithful patrons.
